Hi Lorraine

Sorry things are so tough for you right now and having to hang about waiting for something to happen is abysmal :(

I think the injections referred to are specific joint injections. What you really need is either a general steroid injection, a depo-medrone which goes into the backside and works its way into the bloodstream to benefit the whole body or a course of oral steroids. Many people feel real benefit from a dose of injected steroid and it would be worth asking your GP for this.

Fatigue is a difficult one and the whole thing can soon become a vicious circle. You need to rest to let your body recover and try to pace yourself. It doesn't sound like you should be out looking for a job right now! Might I suggest you give the NRAS helpline a call, they could perhaps put you through to someone you could have a chat to which might lift your spirits a bit. Please try not to feel too down, things will get better. hang on in there Lorraine :)

Keep posting Lorraine and let us know how you are doing ThumpUp

AGREE with Lyn.

Depo medrome is a big jab of steroid- normally given in your biggest muscle (your top thigh/ bum area)

go for one of these

Hello Lorraine

Sorry to hear that things are really bad for you at the moment. I understand how you must
feel. It does seem to be a big waiting game sometimes . If you have read any of my posts
you will see that I am on a waiting game as well. Try and keep spirits up though
you don't want to slip into a depression . It is difficult when you are in constant pain and
always tired.

Definately get the depo injection I have had many and they do help with pain and
stiffness. Ring Docs tomorrow don't go longer and get worse.

Let us know how you get on

hi Lorraine,

just to re-iterate what others have said.

go for the Steroid injection .. generally they work really well and will help you through until your meds are sorted. there's no need to be frightened at all at having one.

Hello Lorraine

I've had a steroid injection in my bot last year and it really did help.

Was it your specialist nurse that mentioned it to you? I ask because I had mine done at the hospital and not at my GP's. From what I have learnt my GP's don't do the depo one, they just do the ones into your joints.

Have you a phone number for your specialist nurse. If you have, I would, if I was you, ring her up and ask.

Do take Lyn's advice and ring the helpline, if only for a chat to them. We are all here for you, but sometimes it is better to speak to someone directly.

Love Paula x

Hi Lorraine
Please go for the steroid injection, Ive had 4 since september (all in the bottom/thigh) as they do help while your waiting to start other meds... Looking for work is the last thing you should be worrying about, have you got a good GP you can speak to? Please ring the nras helpline just to speak to someone who knows what your going through and talk about your feelings.. Take care Love Ceri xx

Keep your pecker up Lorraine and have the steroid jab like we all say - you will feel much better and will help keep you going til you have your appointment.

Take care, Julia x
